HAPPY SPRING 2009 Earth Day!

Hello Dear Yogi's

Happy Spring! Spring is spiritual, rejuvenating and inspiring. It is a wonderful time to plant seeds. Especially spiritual seeds which manifest in the strengthening of body and mind. The practice of yoga is one of the greatest ways to implement new ideas and habits. Hatha Yoga is one of the most effective tools to quickly change age old habits into new positive action through the growth and healing that takes place through every practice. One can permanently transform habits and patterns through the daily practice of the liberating science of Meditation and Hatha Yoga. That's why we really encourage our Two Month Challenge® which can help burn out old negative tendencies and sow the seeds of positive change through the discipline. Some people practice yoga to look good and feel good but no matter what the reason one practices, one inevitably transforms on all levels. Hatha Yoga is usually the precursor of meditation, Raja Yoga, as it awakens the chakras (energy centers) and connects the yogi to higher consciousness and energy. That inspires the yogi to investigate further within. May you feel this inspiration this Springtime and nurture and cultivate seeds of good action resulting in a happier and healthier life. You can manifest abundance on all levels. We have been given this ability and yoga is the path for all no matter what your faith is. Remember, Yoga is not a religion, it is a health science and it will strengthen your faith and devotion whatever your belief.

Also, yogis, even though we all work so hard in this day and age, remember that relaxation is true healing. To know how to relax is the secret of longevity and happiness. Even if you have just 5 minutes, laying down in Savasana and completely relaxing can shift you mentally and physically into an optimum state. When you relax the doors of receptivity are open and you are more able to receive healing on all levels.

Springtime is here and it is the season of renewed hope. It encourages the practice of forgiveness as it brings energy. Without it, we would not be here. What is needed is the ability to be free of bitterness and thereby being open and focused on a better future. When you practice during class, your thoughts are powerful and effective.

After what we experienced, we have had incredible support on so many levels, especially from our SRF family, we are very grateful. Of course, inspiration is everywhere and it is wonderful that so many people appreciate the Original Synergy Yoga and it's tremendous benefits.

We have enjoyed your notes and visits so much. We Thank you and look forward to your visits whenever possible. We are very interested in your heart and your life. We miss you and want you to know that we send our love and our best wishes to you and your loved ones.

Today, Earth Day is a perfect time to practice Yoga. Even just a little bit. It is your contribution to peace, awareness and harmony on the planet. Love and Namaste

Why do we practice the same postures everyday?

So many students ask us this question and when we explain it they understand it fully. Synergy Yoga posture flows - Our intention is optimum health, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

There are those that still want to try different postures. There comes a time, if one is fortunate enough to have a sadhana (daily yoga practice), when you practice Hatha Yoga to create energy in your whole body not to perfect a pose or focus on a few poses. Synergy is holistic and is practiced as if we are cleaning our teeth or bathing. The beauty of doing the same flow everyday is that it is a wonderful way to guage your progress and the state of your mind and body. The postures are the same but the process is very different everyday. Your thoughts and attitude are what make it different. You can monitor yourself and it is an amazing life tool as well as a benefit to body and mind.

You will not find forward bend or back bend workshops for instance at Synergy Yoga. We do not practice the postures to become "excellent" at them. Yoga is not a performing art. . Although back bends are healing to the organs and the spine and have incredible health benefits, our philosophy is to practice a little bit everyday to boost the entire energy systems and allow the body to become stronger and more flexible as time goes on. We go through many changes in life and face different physical and mental challenges. As the years go by the yoga becomes an invaluable tool to know what to focus on for your healing. Repetition of the poses, is what allows us to become masters of our own breath and energy as we can see, feel and know where we are holding energy and how to release it. It is direct feedback on our state in the present moment. The repeated process of forward and backbends in your daily practice will enable you to develop at a natural rate. Your forward bends and backbends will be inevitably magnificent. The science of yoga is based on daily practice.

 


Giving the same amount of time to all the other postures maintains balance physically and on all levels. Synergy Yoga gives thorough directions for proper execution and safety of all the postures. Remember, if you are injured or have limitations, practicing foundation of each posture, you receive all the benefits and achieve exponential healing. Do not stop your yoga practice if you are injured. Simply honor your edge and practice the foundation of the pose. Keep the energy moving.

Instead of going to the gym and working on a specific muscle, you are actually working all of your muscles, organs and systems which result in the most optimum health you can achieve living in this world. There is nothing left out in this flow. You work 100% and if you are practicing correctly from your Hara (your core), you are building strength as well as flexibility. You will find your mind is sharper and your body is stronger. And attend every Synergy Yoga Posture Clinic that you can. It is an amazing and life changing experience.

If you are ready for a practice "a sadhana", you will be drawn to a flow that is designed for you to practice until you are 108! Such as Synergy Yoga. Remember, there is no such thing as a perfect pose. The perfection is your attitude in your daily practice.

An inspiring note from our Mentor Teacher, Ronna Frost, RN

Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself. I am Ronna Frost, R.N. I am fortunate to live in beautiful Point Arena, California, new home of Synergy Yoga Teacher Training. Of course, Synergy Yoga has been here for a good many years, thanks to Charles and Peri. I am so glad my first exposure to yoga was Synergy because it is so comprehensive and works so many of the Eight Limbs of Yoga. My 10 day intensive was in November 2002. I stayed on schedule with my practicum and passed my final in August of 2003 for the 500 hour certificate. I've been loving teaching yoga since my first class.

I am amazed at how well conditioned the practice keeps me. I have done quite a few weekend warrior activities like water skiing, or all day hiking, and do not experience that characteristic soreness from being out of shape! I have had a chronic disposition to low back pain/issues since my 20's and it definitely keeps it at bay. My relapses usually have to do with not "honoring my edge", an extremely important part of the practice, I have found.

At my "day job", a nurse at a medical clinic, I have multiple opportunities to introduce the benefits of yoga to patients. Much illness could be lessened or alleviated by a regular practice of yoga. During the practice, we are doing so many things that benefit our health. Superoxygenating the body with the breath; stimulating lymphatic flow and drainage; strengthening our muscles and bones; increasing flexibility of muscles and joints; connecting our reason with our intuition in gazing into our spiritual eye, increasing our wisdom and connecting with our light; reducing stress in our lives with the integrating of our thoughts, emotions, physicality and spirituality: all this boosts our immune system, lowers our tendencies to stress related illness. Simply: we feel great!

I am really looking forward to being involved in the Teacher Training and the upcoming Annual Workshop in June. It's going to be so much fun meeting people from yonder parts of our globe and sharing what we love--YOGA.

As much as yoga is already a part of our lives, lets commit to giving ourselves even more.

My intention for taking the teachers training and becoming a yoga instructor was and is to generate healing. While doing yoga, I experienced what it felt like to generate energy in my body through the asanas. When this bliss came, I realized that I wanted to help keep our local yoga studio open by committing to the teachers training.

And then, the real training began! I had no idea what was meant by on all the levels. This training is packed with so much knowledge and information that I cannot possibly communicate it in a few paragraphs. It is extensive and intensive and exactly what I need to keep my focus on healing. If I ever have any questions , The Synergy Yoga Founder, Peri Ness, and my Mentor teachers, Charles and Ronna, are there for me. The training books and manuals are filled with information and I refer to them on an ongoing basis. The workshops are awesome and fun and are a part of my continuing education as I want to help give my students what has been given to me. My biggest reward is witnessing when someone struggling with disease brings healing to themselves through their yoga practice. "You alone must do it but you can't do it alone". I don't know who said this but it's true with yoga. My teachers have helped me to keep on keeping on !!

It is not always easy and not always blissful, especially while working through stuck and blocked energy. This training has taught me how to release these blocks. Continually, because life doesn't stop and I may feel fine today and tomorrow may bring news to send me back out of balance. Yoga helps!

I am grateful to Peri Ness for continuing this work and appreciate Peri, Charles and Ronna for encouraging me to continue to heal and help bring healing to this amazing community that is a joy for me to be a part of.

In these tough global economic times of uncertainty, remember that Yoga is the oldest practice on the planet... tried, tested and true for 5,000 years. You receive physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support in the sanctuary of your practice and in your life in the world. Your sadhana (spiritual practice) will attract and create abundance, health and divine support. If in doubt, do your practice as a scientific experiment. Do the two-month challenge (any Synergy Flows for 2 months) and tune into your personal transformation on all levels. From personal experience, if you practice consistently, your physical injuries will be less and you will heal three times as fast from any ailment. Without a doubt, yoga reverses the aging process.

We have a great routine up here for when you visit. Yoga, Surf, Yoga, Surf. Or perhaps there will be Yoga, eat, yoga, scenic drive.

Keep up your practice. Through this discipline freedom awaits. Peace to you.

About our Renowned, Transforming, Ten-Day Intensive


 

So many of you have called, written and inquired about our Ten-Day Intensive which many students have participated in more than once. Peri's Ten Day Intensive is alive and well and preserved and protected. The Ten-Days are a huge production, which we offered four times a year for the last sixteen years. The comments we have received from the highest professionals; lawyers, doctors, life coaches, teachers and presenters are "this is the best workshop I've ever done", "processes were brilliant", "I've received a major life healing" " the flow of the workshop and the healing that comes from it are special". We also offer custom YOGA Weekends as ongoing education for Practicum Students, as well as our Certified Teachers, apart from our midterm final held in June and November. Our Mentor Teachers are ready to work with you when you are able to visit. And... WE look forward to it!! This has proved to be very successful. Kim Kurdelak came up and passed with flying colors. This way we are able to accommodate everyone, especially our overseas students.

Kim is the incredibly talented artist who designed the Kid's coloring book. She and Markus are working with our European contingency of Synergy Yoga Teachers and Markus is our European Mentor.

Latest Legal News

Update... we were completely successful in court. The case was dismissed! Our trainings and Apprenticeship are perfectly professional, legal and always have been. Those attempting to besmirch us have been found to be lying by the judge. Their attempt at extorting money out of us did not work. Although they wrongfully reported us to the Labor Board and caused an audit of The Yoga Room, we got through it and it was determined that the State of California actually owed us money and we received a refund! As you know, this was a hassle. The law of Karma never fails! So onward and upward!!!
